First a little history ...
The Royal Navy under the command of Lieutenant Henry Ball Lidgbird discovered Lord Howe Iceland on 17 February, 1788. Lieutenant Ball was on his way to Botany Bay, where they discovered the island.
Upon her return, he sent a group to land and to their surprise, they discovered it was an island was uninhabited and, unknown to humans. Lieutenant Henry Lidgbird ball was nearby islands named after him and so this new discovery has beennamed after Richard Howe, the first Earl Howe, who as First Lord of the Admiralty.

In the Pacific, Lord Howe Iceland is located 600 kilometers east of the Australian mainland. It is 10 kilometers long and 2 kilometers wide, and crescent-like in shape.

It is however best to discover this island on foot or by bike.
